The Seven Sound System Dwarves

The official mascots of Rational Acoustics.  

These seven little gremlins like nothing more than to give your sound system their own distinctive voice.

Sure, they’re friendly enough when encountered as a balanced group, but hanging out with any one of them for too long can drive you to distraction – or worse.

Don’t be fooled by their diminutive stature and (sometimes) cute appearance – these little offenders have a long rap sheet filled with everything from simple charges of disturbing the peace to more flagrant offenses like system hijacking and mix vandalism.

Tubby – Low, slow and rarely on the go, but a formidable ally for getting a house rockin – when Tubby gets out of control, he has a bad habit of rolling around the bottom of your system and squashing everything.
Boxy – This dwarf certainly doesn’t suffer from claustrophobia. Boxy loves the congestion of enclosed spaces and is often criticized for his lack of openness. Given the chance, Boxy would remove all letters from your system’s alphabet besides the vowels “a” “o” and “u”.
Honky – A long-time supporter and admirer of Charlie Brown’s teacher, this little loudmouth likes to lend even the most well behaved system that lovely “paging horn” sound. Honky’s one ambition in life is to show off your system’s horns – even when you would rather he didn’t.
Barky – Never shy about giving you a piece of his mind, Barky can be aggressive about getting his point across. And mind his bite – you definitely don’t want this little guy to “sit” and “stay” in your system.
Edgy – A known associate of lead guitarists and harmonica-wielding frontmen, Edgy has been known to display some serious “anger management issues.” Spend too much time with this sharp, irritable little fellow and your ears just may need a valium.
Sibilant – Known to frequent clubs and discos with his pal Tubby, Sibilant is a great lover of all that “sizzles”. Unfortunately too much is often never enough for this high-strung dwarf. To be honest, we don’t even know if this little guy is from planet Earth. Seriously, just look at him!

Smaart courses in fall 2018

This year Rational Acoustics is celebrating 10 years. We can look back at a very successful decade of making sense of the noise, and are very certain that there are many more very good years to come. The very high quality of the Smaart software is not the only reason of its great success.

The program has, without a doubt, become the worldwide standard in sound measurement software. But that is not all there is to it. The other main, and maybe even bigger part is our educational scheme. Since the beginning Rational Acoustics is running an extensive course program, second to none on the market. Many have been to our classes and many come back for more.

We learned that, for Scandinavia the classes are best run in fall and late winter. For fall 2018 we are offering the following classes. The courses will be taught by Rasmus Rosenberg.

10EaZy Network in Northern Europe

10EaZy and Rational Acoustics have increased the strategic cooperation which had started several years ago with Rational Acoustics taking on distribution of 10EaZy products in North America.

Since the release of Smaart v8.2, core 10EaZy features are now integrated into the Smaart environment offering a compelling set of features.

January 2018 2-day operator fundamentals @ Benum in full swing

Even though Oslo was drowning in heavy snowfall and part’s of the public transport weren’t operating,  25 sound engineers which had booked the 2-day operator fundamentals turned up at BENUMS premises in Oslo.

The class is taught by certified Smaart Instructor Rasmus Rosenberg.

SC Sound Denmark announced Smaart Partner

We are happy to announce that SC Sound has joined the growing group of companies supporting our effort on the sound system alignment education front. They certainly will help making sense of the noise.

The  Scandinavian Smaart Partner Program has been developed to help provide local training and product support to Smaart users and interested sound engineers throughout a network of Smaart Partner companies in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland.

We all work closely together coordinating the intensive courses and class program planned for the upcoming year.
